Given that I'm currently in a find-job-any-job mindset, I'd say "me". It'd be a step up from Receptioneering, that's for sure, and a solid job would be exactly what I'd need to give me a reason to relocate back to Sheffield (but leave me enough cash for regular trips to London)

A little (I thnk my C++ module was the only 2nd year module I did well in).... And I've always wanted to learn.

How much coding is involved, and what languages?

Delphi currently version 5 (moving up to 2006)

and thats what my job entails

so its pretty much all coding

also how much SQL do you know

As its SQL Server 2000/2005

SQL - Very little, sadly.

And I don't know how quickly I could acquire such knowledge (I certainly wouldn't be able to get certified or anything)

if you can write basic SQL queries with the possibility of Joins you're probably alright

Well, quite apart from the fact that my current commute is only four miles, Google maps declines to give me a route — but at least they no longer have me swimming for the better part of a month just to cross the Atlantic!

That's the problem with folks these days... just no drive.
I mean, what's only a month of swimming, considering you'd be in great shape afterwards.
