An Experiment

As an experiment I'm going to uncut the tweets

If people start getting pissed off with them then I'll cut them again...but we'll see

Is that an I'm going to get pissed off with them?

[identity profile] blackic.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but then I'm of the camp that thinks whoever came up with Loudtwitter should be spanked mercilessly until they are very sorry.

[identity profile] rebelliousuno.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
loudtwitter is annoying if you're noisy...

But I tend not to be so noisy and since I don't also spam LJ its like you get an update from me once per day that is fairly small and you can skip over if needs be...

now if I could apply a filter in the loudtwitter so that only people on that filter could see them that would be ace

It's the duplication that bugs me, I think, there should be some way I can get around reading the same updates in LJ/Twitter/Facebook *ponders*

If you go to Customize Journal Style/Custom CSS in your profile and drop this code in:

.loudtwitter {
display: none!important
}

Then it should trim twitter posts down to a single link.

otherse ther's a grease monkey skript to strip them out to

[identity profile] blackic.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had a play with the greasemonkey script but can't get it to work, possibly cos I use a relatively uncommon LJ layout.

Found a nifty one that gets rid of a specific tag though, so if you get loudtwitter to tag your posts I can blast them that way.

[identity profile] breibrei.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, A Sturdy Gesture? That's like the easiest layout to write Greasemonkey scripts for (and also the one I use). I'll throw one together for you that kills that actual post once I have an uncut sample to test it on.

Done
let me know when you've done it so I can kill this post

I've just got the script I had working! Abort development!

:)

he's done now

[identity profile] illessa.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, I'd use Loudtwitter if I could do that. I already wish I could filter the reposting to Facebook so that those who have Twitter don't need to see things again. I have to suffice with just reposting manually in TweetDeck rather than using the FB app, so at least I don't end up reposting a FollowFriday or something again...

[identity profile] illessa.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
hmm, no I hadn't, I'll probably stick with just unticking Facebook on Tweetdeck when it's something I don't want reposted though, works out as marginally less effort :P.

If you use email posting, you can do that.

I seem to recall that the lj-security tag should come first, if you do it this way.
